The Artist Behind Noho Home: Jalene Kanani

At Noho Home, every design begins with a moʻolelo, a story rooted in culture, nature, andʻike passed down from generation to generation. Founded by designer and owner Jalene Kanani, Noho Home was created to share the beauty and depth of Hawaiian culture, in a world where it is often unseen or misunderstood. Every piece invites people to experience Hawaiʻi through its stories, textures, and spirit, bringing a sense of place into spaces everywhere.

Born and raised on Oʻahu, Jalene Kanani finds inspiration in hula. Dancing from a young age taught her to see movement, rhythm, and emotion in everything, lessons that now shape her approach to design. Her work blends traditional Hawaiian motifs and native plants with a modern art style, creating a design language that feels both timeless and fresh. It’s the essence of Noho Home’s philosophy, Style with Aloha.

“Each design is like a conversation,” Jalene explains. “I start with a memory or feeling, then think about how it might live in someone’s home. A pillow, a quilt, or a shower curtain isn’t just an object, it’s a piece of art that you interact with every day.”
The synergy of Jalene and Noho Home is about more than textiles, it’s about representation, connection, and reimagining what home can feel like. Every pattern carries a story, and every room styled with these pieces becomes a reflection of art, culture, and comfort.

As Jalene says, “Art shouldn’t live only in galleries, it should be part of your daily rituals, in the way you gather, rest, and dream.”
